joburke is trying to set priorities in her life!!
my partner and i live together and there fore share a bedroom. I have to see that leaving my stuff all over the room, is pretty selfish as this also makes Chad’s room messy.. if every day before i go to work i put away all the stuff i’ve had out to get ready and put away my clothes at the end of the day then this will maintain a tidy room. It ill also make the enviroment in which we sleep and make love in more comfortable and give a better atmosphere.

and I’m actually not too bothered. There is an aisle which I can walk down to get to all the main places. I’m glad I’m not worried about it. I’m sure I’ll get a surge of energy soon, under which I’ll be able to sort it out in no time… and possibly even enjoy it! Until then it’s cool. Really glad I’m not beating myself up about it and that I don’t feel like I’m failing to live up to an ideal. Not sure why. Maybe this is a healthier way of viewing mess: something that comes in waves and goes in waves. Let’s see if this sentiment continues….

I suck at this too!! I leave little bits of stuff around the house so my DH tries to help me out by put these things in little stacks on the floor of my room just inside the doorway. This just makes my room even worse! I go in there and get overwhelmed by the extra mess that has spontaneously appeared. I think I need more storage space – maybe my DH can be actually helpful and get/make cupboards and shelving for me. I know if i try to do it my self, instead of a lovely new shelf on the wall I will end up with another neat pile of wood and brackets and screws on the floor or the desk that will sit there for ever… I think I have a problem.

sorted through my stuff today.
okay, so it’s not really clean, but at least I’m digging into all the junk and trying to revive it from it’s stage of rubbish.

Hmmm, I had a bit of a low point on this goal. I think the jubilation was premature. My landlady at this new place comes to change the bedding every three weeks- which I have to say is a bit odd, the last time someone else changed my bedding I was a child. Anyway she was due to come on a certain date, she left a note for all the housemates in the hall but I only remembered once I was on the tube to work. A bit of a disaster. I sent a frantic text to my bf at home asking him to pick up any underwear and hide it, and to do my bed. I got home and found the underwear on a pile on the chair by the bed, barely covered. I cringed for about an hour after that incident.
Luckily the next day the landlady came again to deliver another blanket and it was much neater- so I partly redeemed myself.

Going well...
This is going really well. Although I’ve had a few stressful days in the last week but I have still managed to keep on top of the mess with regular tidy arounds. I have started tidying if I am waiting (for the bathroom or for my partner to get back if we are planning to do something together). Good stuff. I feel so much better when everything is in its place. Going to have to sort out my paper draw though as I have all sorts from books to fliers in it and it barely shuts (only when I push everything down).

next year i’m going away to university
(gaah… i was just looking at the off-campus housing website, and there’s a cheery looking link to “on-campus housing” which makes it seem like that’s an option. no, not unless you’re lucky. i used up my luck before kindergarten when i got to be in french immersion.)
anyway, as i was saying, my room has been messy till now and i’ve given up putting in the effort to make it neat. i’ll clean it up before i leave. and i’ll keep my room neat when i get in residence.

It’s so much easier keeping my room tidy when there is less stuff. It does not keep itself tidy or anything but there sure is a difference. I left most of my stuff in London and I feel less at the mercy of my posessions. What a difference clear lines make!
