A couple of tips to help improve photos -

The thirds rule. Rather than have the subject directly in the middle of the picture, experiment with 33/66% positioning, vertically and/or horizontally.

Try to find angles which end up leading the eye around the photo, starting with the subject, around to the background. For example, looking down a snakey river with a boat in the foreground, sunset in the background. Use the thirds rule to position the boat perhaps.

Learn about “shutter speed” and “aperture”. Experiment. long expusures can surreal in situations, the classic being a few seconds exposure of a waterfall or night traffic. Try following a car with your camera on round a 1/20th to half a second exposure. Have your camera following the car before you take the shot, and follow through. Blurred background & wheels, crisp car.

Aperture helps you (un)blur foreground and/or background objects. You could make only one person in a crowd (third rule again) in focus while blurring everyone else. (+ thirds rule)

When photographing people. The eyes must be perfectly in focus, (+ third rule). It’s the opposite of blurring’s someone’s face, which would depersonalise it.
