My friend had a whole litter that I could have chosen from, and I planned to sneak a kitty into my room. Then I asked my dad what he would do if I showed up randomly with a pet animal, and he said he’d get really pissed off. So I cut my idea short, and I’ll just wait til I live by myself. Whenever that will be.

local kitty rescue agency 14 months ago

yesssssssssssssssssssssss! we’re going to go pick out a kitten monday! a very nice woman from a local non-profit all-volunteer rescue shelter is going to show us her “goods”. kitty kitty meow meow!! i can’t wait for the kitten shenanigans to begin!

I adopted a kitten from the local animal shelter. She’s very small (maybe only about 5 weeks old?) and mostly gray. Her name is Grace Olivia Dulcinea Tidwell. But I just call her Gracie.

I gave her the Grace Olivia (because she felt like a Grace Olivia) and Stephen gave her the Dulcinea (because he went with me to adopt her and anyone who accompanies me to adopt a pet gets to give a middle name).

She’s sweet and cute and my other kitty, Sophie, is getting used to having her around.

I’m going Monday to see about finding a kitty to adopt. Hopefully one that Sophie can get along with.

New kitty schedule 23 months ago

I was thinking maybe I’d be able to complete this goal over the holiday break since I’ll have several weeks where I’m not going in to work and can spend more time at home; however, the thought of bringing another living creature into this apartment right now sounds like a lot of responsibility. I need all my energies to go into writing and reading at the moment and I fear a new kitten to train and play with would distract me too much. Also, Sophie and I seem to be developing a pretty good pattern of interaction without Lucy here. It’s pretty good with just the two of us.

I still want to adopt a kitty, but I’ll put it off until at least the end of summer (after comps and summer travel).

I miss having a kitty. Someday I will find one that gets along with my dog.

I have one kitty right now, Sophie. I used to have two, but my other kitty, Lucy, died a few months ago. I don’t want to replace Lucy; I would like, however, for Sophie to have a friend.

    Plus, kitties are awesome. :-)

Adopt vs Buy 2 years ago

It’s a hot topic. In my opinion, adoption is the only option. With so many homeless animals and animals being put to sleep, it feels so amazing to do some good and save a life while adding so much love to your own life. Even if you want a particular breed, there are tons of them available through local shelters or even breed-specific rescue groups, and they are all wonderful and loving.
