I’ll give my speech today, in just about 2h. Wish me luck.
How to organize my speech
How I did it: The first seven months I just shuffled between speech ideas, not really making any progress. After I decided to stick with 43things as the topic I scheduled my speech but did not really get started on writing it until the date for it was confirmed. Writing took about a week and practicing/tuning 3 days worth of free time.
Lessons & tips: Do not get obsessive about the transitions. They are nice to have, but don't have all of your speech as notes just because you would miss the transitions otherwise. That will leave you stuck with the notes and the wording. Flexibility is a good thing.
Resources: The Toastmasters Competent Communicator manual, of course. I also found a nice article online on I/you ratio, but unfortunately I don't seem to be able to re-find it right now.

If you have a nice experience you want to share about getting to know new people or networking on 43things, I would really like to hear your story. Maybe I could use it as a part of my speech which I’ll be delivering at Helsinki Toastmasters this Thursday.
its now monday. my year 12 oral presentation is on thursday and i dont have a topic yet!!!! quite terrible. i did have one but my teacher said that it didnt have a firm point and i cant think of a point for it so i have to think of another topic. i must i must i must. i can write and make speeches, i just need a topic! ok better go see what i can find..
I talked about tag web services like del.icio.us, technorati and (of course) 43things. I outlined three key benefits: organizing personal notes, discovering similar sites, and (most important!) finding similar people. The talk went well, although some people felt that the introduction (contrast with bookmarking and searching) was a bit thin, and they missed the exuberance of my last talk. Still, I had lots of fun!
