I seem to have developed nystagmus. I don’t know how or why, but my GP asked me to follow her finger with my eyes and informed me that I don’t follow smoothly. They aren’t smooth horizontally, but vertically they are fine. She says that it has to do with an inner ear imbalance, which I believe is ludicrous because my balance is fine. She diagnosed me with labyrinthitis on June 15 and it was a crock. I never had an inner ear disorder, and I still don’t. She just wanted to get me out of her office (we don’t have the best surgery around here, I’m afraid). So I’m not sure what this nystagmus business is about. I’m scheduled to see a neuro in August, though.

I’m so sick of my old eyes. I was talking with my mum one time and said, “I’m probably going to have to have a seeing-eye dog at my wedding at this point!” My eyes are old and apparently I have some pigmentation on the retina in my right eye (whatever that means). The prescription for my contacts isn’t that strong (-4.25 in each eye), but still. I’ve never had good vision. I can’t remember life before having to squint or be known as “the girl with the glasses.” Can’t wait until Lasik!

I can’t remember life before wearing glasses or having blurry vision, and I’m ready for Lasik. I don’t want to keep having to contend with contacts and all of the stuff that comes along with it. I’m sick of not being able to see.
