Josh ...and life just rolls on like a river.
Caught a 17 lbs coho and an 8 lbs sockeye during the summer of 2002. Lots of fun. You should see them jump up the waterfalls, too. :)
How I did it: My daughter treated herself to a trip to Alaska after getting her BS. She did this by working as seasonal staff at a local resort which offered housing and excursions at no to low prices and paid wages for waitressing and housekeeping services.
She went on a deep-sea trip and caught the second largest Halibut (80 lbs!). She also went salmon fishing and, across the river, were grizzlies and a bald eagle stole one of the fish from the pile they were accumulating. She's traveled to Europe a few times and to Africa twice. She's studies acoustics of hump back whales in Cape Cod and says her stay in Alaska topped them all. She met some fabulous people too!
Resources: Sign up to work at a local resort. They offer housing for dollars a day, pay you for your work and allow you (most of the time) to go on excursions for free or at low cost.
