How I did it: This was only the second house we actually looked inside of and we were searching for about 2 weeks so it didn't take us long. I didn't actually even look at the inside before we applied and I was just relying on S.'s opinion on the place.
When we first got the keys and I was able to see the inside, I was pleasantly surprised. I had this fear that I would be super disappointed but it actually was bigger and better than I thought.
There are a few things that I will miss about the old house, for example the bathroom and kitchen had been renovated so were in much better condition than the new place. But all in all, I think we've made the right decision. The master bedroom is bigger and there is a walk in robe so S. and I can actually share a wardrobe rather than having to use ones in seperate bedrooms. Plus the layout is better. At the old house the bathroom led straight from the living room so if we ever had guests it was awkward for everyone.
I'm still a bit iffy on the location. So far I've only heard relatively bad things about the new area. I'm trying not to let them affect me and I want to make up my own mind, but of course those doubts are lingering.
We have only spent 2 nights in the house so far and everything is still the shambles. It doesn't feel like home yet...so it's a bit uncomfortable. We need to learn where all the light switches are and how strong the stove is and just all those things that we got so used to at the other house.
I'm hoping once everything is unpacked and we have settled in a bit it will feel more like home. Read how I did it… 3 months ago
We signed the lease and got the keys today! Unfortunately our property manager had fairly poor customer service skills and made us wait 25mins before taking us in to sign the paperwork. Then she quickly rushed through everything with us before dashing out of the room. Like sure, I can understand if you are busy, but then get somebody else to help you so that we aren’t left in a dizzy spin.
I still haven’t seen inside the house. I will be heading straight over there after work to unload my car. We thoughtfully packed both cars full yesterday afternoon so that we could head straight over after getting the keys.
I’m so excited! PLUS we got approved for a 12month lease (love it) and got permission to get a second cat!! 3 months ago
We were approved for a house on Monday and we’ll be signing the lease and getting the keys this coming Monday. It’s a 2 bedroom house and we were hoping to find a 3 bedda, but we couldn’t find a suitable one. So we resorted to a 2 bedda that has a much smaller yard than our current house and it also has an outdoor spa! There’s a lot of things to like about this house, although I haven’t even seen the inside. S. inspected it when I was at work but I trust his opinion. The outside looks nice and the yard is going to be a helluva lot easier to maintain…which was the main issue with our current house.
Now we are busy packing and getting ready to move. Can’t wait till Monday! 3 months ago
We moved on the 19th December, a bit hectic but was lovely to be here by Christmas :)
Im hoping we get to spend a few years here at least as its comfortable, spacious, close to the kids school, in a nice area and basically suits our needs down to the ground at the moment. Im really happy to be here and so fingers crossed that it will be home for a while 4 months ago
Found a couple of houses in nice neighbourhoods in our price range.
The next piece of the jigsaw is to sell this one. Argh! 6 months ago
