I haven’t got the Powerbook yet, but I did finally go out and get an iMac. I’m hooked. I wish I had done this sooner. I can’t see ever going back to PCs again. I love my iMac. It just works!

buy an old laptop, never a new one. there really is never much difference between them when you factor in the price. they are far too expensive.
i love mine and all but what cost me $4000 is now worth about $700 and i wonder if i really have gotten that much use out of it.. some days yes.. some days no
i got an ibook instead (10 months ago). when the 12” intel macbooks pro come out, i’m on it.
I finally decide to purchase a laptop computer, an Apple G4 PowerBook, which I do on December 26.
And on January 10, which would be almost precisely two weeks later, Apple announces The MacBook Pro “featuring an Intel Core Duo processor which delivers up to four times the performance of the PowerBook G4.”
Consider “Grrrrr….” to be a family-friendly euphemism for my actual thoughts at this time.
Happy New Year to you, too, Mister Jobs. I trust you’re enjoying the laugh you’re having at my expense.
Oh, and, to pour even more water into my sinking boat, I upgraded the internal RAM to 2 gigabytes. Cool, huh? At least I didn’t pay Apple prices for the memory upgrade!
Also, somehow, despite my advertising-influenced fantasies, wirelessly cruising cyberspace in public on a groovy new PowerBook has NOT generated the expected interest from bevies of beautiful and intelligent cutie-honeys.
I guess maybe I shoulda bought a Vaio.
...but maybe avoid the 12-inch. The size and price are nice, but it’s not the best-quality notebook out there. A 15” will last longer and give you fewer problems, plus the screen and glowing keyboard are awesome.
The PowerBook is tidy, but you already know that. It was well worth all of my life savings which I spent on it.
I know that as soon as I spring for the G4 model, they’ll bring out a G5. In fact, I just picked up a rustling in the undergrowth today suggesting an improved chip model is due for release this coming spring.
No hurry on this, anyway. Altho’ it’d occasionally be convenient, I don’t really need one. I just want one.
Plus, another 43things user assures me that chicks dig guys with PowerBooks.
Uh, I think it was Power Books.
I FINALLY GOT IT!
I think it was ultimately the free iPod mini deal that won me over, but I do not even use the iPod, now that I have them.
Using the laptop has been a blast. I forgot how it felt to not have so many computer related problems. Though I have never owned a Mac before, I find it is easy to use, and all I can say is that I really really really really like my new laptop.
It might not have been a necessary to buy it, but it sure was fulfilling.
