Learn to use The GIMP

We bought Lightroom about a year ago and I’ve been using that mostly for photo organizing and editing. So learning new things on GIMP is on hold, as most of what I like/need to do can be done in Lightroom. 2 years ago

I’ve checked out a few tutorials online and am starting to figure things out. Woot! I still foresee a definite need for Picasa2, especially when I’m wanting to make quick, simple adjustments, but am also starting to see how GIMP could be quite fun for when I have a bit more time to truly play with an image. =) 3 years ago

Ok, so I downloaded GIMP for windows today. I then opened the program and, um, had no idea what to do. Reading online tutorials hasn’t helped that much ,either, it feels like they’re all over my head! I know I need to just sit and spend time playing around and I’ll figure it out eventually…. 3 years ago

I got this program a long time ago because I didn’t care for Photoshop or Paintshop. I mostly wanted to be able to create animated gifs, and succeeded in learning how to do so. I’ve gotten away from graphic editing of late and haven’t really used it in ages, but I’m sure I could still remember how if I went back to it now. 4 years ago

has anyone trying to learn to use gimp, checked out http://www.gimptalk.com ? it seems to be geared mainly toward gamers but i figured out how to do a lot of things with their tutorials. also if you check out http://www.deviantart.com, and search on gimp tutorials, you can find some neat stuff. for dolling, check out http://www.nonpronoia.net/desdemona/index.htm , there are some gimp tutuorials for beginners there. it takes time but after you learn your way around you can even do stuff with the gimp using tuts for other programs like paintshop.

I can do the simple things with the Gimp, and I have a book that might as well be written in Greek for about as much as I understand it. I want to be able to master the Gimp well enough to create my own Tarot deck again. 5 years ago
