The Lovely Bones, by Alice Sebold? I just read it recently, and found it very disturbing, but also creative, unique and uplifting, in the end. 3 years ago

we could have gotten this off the ground. I enjoyed the books we read, but it never seemed to go anywhere. When someone comes up with a better idea, please let me know. 5 years ago
I’ve just picked this up from the library (I had to wait for it to come in ILL) and am sitting down to read it. 6 years ago
A few of us have decided to read Alentajo Blue by Monica Ali this month. Would anyone care to join us? 6 years ago
Has anyone started reading The Inheritance of Loss yet? I wasn’t able to purchase it here in Taiwan. I’m going to try and order it instead. Alentejo Blue is a go. I bought it and I’m quite excited to start it. 6 years ago
but this was mainly so I can join a book club.
I did join one though, over at Yahoo groups. Much better. 6 years ago
I’m always looking for more books to read and dicuss.
Are we all still reading books? If so, which one are we at now? 6 years ago
on the 43T book club because I’ve had more luck discussing books on All Consuming. I think we are too busy chatting about everyday stuff here on 43T to chat about books we are reading too. And you know what? That’s OK with me. Reality on 43T is just as interesting as all the books I’ve been reading lately. If anyone is interested in discussing books, you can check out my list of books from 2006 on Lists of Bests or All Consuming. 6 years ago
until I finish “having a smooth transition into my new job as a RN”. I’ll rejoin when I have more time. 6 years ago
and you guys certainly know how to discuss! “1984” sounds great. I haven’t read it since high school. I’m looking forward to reading it again. I shouldn’t have a problem finding it here in Taiwan, but interestingly enough, this book is banned in China. I was in a book club in North East China and we delighted in bringing in banned titles and passing them around. We never got around to reading “1984.” On another note, perhaps someone could tell me if we are supposed to read any of the books listed in these entries or if we decide on one particular book? If so, what’s next on the list?
By the way, I’ve just started John Irving’s latest, “Until I Find You.” He’s not for everyone, but I think he’s a compelling writer and what an imagination! I love his characters, especially Garp and Owen Meaney. 6 years ago
How does it work and what are y’all reading right now? 6 years ago
