    Scanner Fixed 3 weeks ago

Ok, after sitting around gathering a bunch of photos for hours a few months ago, they’ve done nothing but sit on my living room floor and creating clutter. I tried to scan them in one day, only to find that my scanner wasn’t working properly and didn’t want to talk to my laptop. Anyway, my boyfriend says he’s finally fixed the scanner so I can get started on this goal. I’m kind of excited about this.

    Hard Work! 5 months ago

OMG, this is hard work. Here I am, stumbling through the closet, rifling through boxes of photos that contain everything from my mom’s family that I don’t even know, to my parents partying with their friends on NYE in the early 80’s, to embarrassing middle school dance team photos, to my 21st birthday. Egads! How am I ever going to get through these? I’m trying to pick out just a few select good ones at first, which I will then segregate into a different marked box (so I know which ones I’ve already digitized), but there are just too damn many. Not to mention, there is a very specific box of photos from a cross country road trip I took in 2001 with friends that I seem to have misplace. The crappy part is that I know I saw this box only weeks ago while I was initially cleaning the closet. Oh well, at least I know it’s in there somewhere.

I saw this and I want to do it too. 10 months ago

Its a great idea. I have a lovely collection of pictures from my grandmother.

To photograph them first is the hard part. I know how to copy photos but i don’t have the set up at the moment. But maybe there is a better way now. Maybe scanning is one way they can be done. I don’t know. I will have to ask.

since i graduated film school and am the only one in my immediate family, not to mention my mom’s immediate family, who is here in the country and has access to old photos and albums i suddenly seem to be responsible for all of them old photos! it takes forever to digitize them tho!

ive started on it na, but ive like 50 photo albums to go :(

    Awesome. 3 years ago

Yay! I got help with writing down the stories!

In exchange for CD-ROMs of the photos, my aunts agreed to take over, so my work here is done. They’ll also check whether I have forgotten some photos.

Done! -- Well, mostly. 3 years ago

I’ve scanned my grandpa’s photos, and I’m damn grateful he’s still alive so I can ask him about them. Hehehe I really wish it was possible to automatize this task—it was extremely time-consuming.

I won’t consider this task finished until I’ve written down all those questions and actually asked him.

finally finally website is done 3 years ago

My husband has been working for a month to create a new family website for us in Rails at pine.fm; it’s a way for me to add information and link pictures together in events. I love it! It’s so great! I have the best husband! So now I can start entering information for those 1000’s of pictures I got this summer. Man, it’s going to take me a while. (That’s my grandpa with the car he called “The Cruising Six”)

Done All I Got... 4 years ago

So I went through all of my photos here with me in London, and I’ve scanned them and uploaded them to flickr. Most of them are in my C’est moi and Kith & Kin sets. I still have my grandmother’s photos and those at my mother’s house, my father’s stuff to go through.
