mortonstoe It's thanksgiving. Nothing has changed.
It was the first cold day of autumn today. Please fucking kill me.
A rather primal part of me wishes I still had that 35 pounds.
The sweater-buying part, not so much.
So now I have to go buy clothes, because I don’t have anything winter that fits me. I’m thinking the weekend.

I hate the cold and I don’t want to live a temperate life anymore.
Hot and arid would be ideal, but I would even settle for humidity as long as I don’t have to deal with the chill. Ugh.

I’ve lived all my life (54 years) in Ohio and I have never gotten used to the cold, snow, and cloudy days. The older I get, the more it bothers me. I want, no, I NEED to move somewhere sunny and warm. Arizona is my first choice. But how do I leave my aging, widowed mother behind? She refuses to move with me.

I was born in Miami and lived there until I was 18, when I took off to go to college in Boston. Wow, major climate change. Of course, my first friend there was a wonderful Cuban girl, also from Miami; and we spent most of the first winter huddled on our dorm steps smoking cigs inside where it was prohibited. After college, I moved to southern California, where I found my home. Of course, I’m about to fly back across the country and live in NYC for a few years, but at least I know where I will one day return to settle down in: someplace sunny, and by the beach!

I’d be happy getting out of town when the chill sets in.

The Mediterranean or the Southwest United States. It’s a toss-up.

I lived in Chicago for 4 years and then I moved back to Puerto Rico. It is great no more winter clothing or grey snow. And you can BB-Q on X-mas Day.

I’m working with a book entitled Clear your Clutter with Feng Shui, which, in addition to much that is new age and patently bogus, offers some rather practical advice on how to reach the goals of not too many material possessions, with those that remain being neatly sorted and stored. But the appealing thing for me, is that the author lives half of each year in Bali. One half of the year training, lecturing, consulting, and the other half chillin-out on Bali. Where do I sign-up for this life?
