Gallery Night and Day 15 months ago

Milwaukee just had Gallery Night and Day last weekend where I went to the opening of the David Barnett gallery. There is nothing like having an original Pissarro 6 inches from your face. And if you had enough money it could be yours. Maybe someday, but until then I’m content to look.

I made two appointments with a friend for beginning of next year! 22 months ago

We’re planning to see the Cranach Exhibition in the Frankfurt Städel Museum (http://www.staedelmuseum.de/index.php?id=25) and an exhibition on early 19th century furniture in the MAK (Museum of Arts and Crafts; http://www.angewandtekunst-frankfurt.de/aktuell/eng/03_ausstellungx.html).

    Looking forward to that!

The Woking Lightbox 2 years ago

After setting this goal a few days ago, I grabbed the chance to go and have a look round a local museum / gallery, the lightbox, with my boyfriend. Although it’s new and still in it’s early days, I learnt some interesting things about the history and heritage of my area. O.K, so it’s not on the same scale as the famous London galleries, but it was a nice start. And there’ll be time for London later. :)

    Holy Hill 2 years ago

I went to the Holy Hill art fair again this year. It was as amazing as ever. It is definitely something I look forward to every year. This year I took my friend Julie and I got her hooked too!

    Pissaro 2 years ago

Finally made it to the art museum to see the Pissaro exhibit with only days to space before it closed. It was amazing and I’m so glad I made it in time. What a great way to spend a friday afternoon :)

I live in a city that is culturally blessed. A country that many folks want to visit.
We have an array of diversity that is captured in the people of this little rock. So there are mamy cultural things to be seen, museums are a definite plus, and there are many in this city alone. I can only count on one hand (and the hand is not full) how many i have been to… that’s such a shame.
So i am promising and challenging myself to visit as many museums as my I can.
I challenge myself to visit at least two per week.

Went to the Milwaukee Art Museum a week and a half ago with some friends that were visiting from out of town. No matter how many times I go there I still find something that I haven’t seen before. The Pissaro exhibit opened last weekend so I’m hoping to make it to that soon and this weekend is the Lakefront Festival of the Arts which I’m planning to attend on Saturday.

Prior to the beginning of this year, I’d only really been to two museum/gallery/art exhibits or shows that I could remember: the Louvre, and a Guggenheim exhibit in Las Vegas. Both experiences occurred when I was much younger, and unable to really appreciate what I was seeing, but they planted the desire to drink in as much art as possible.

Now, in searching for inspiration as a writer, I’ve been exposing myself to as much visual art as possible. In the span of a month I’ve hit LACMA and Norton Simon, attended the 2007 artLA expo in Santa Monica, and I plan on checking out the Getty within the next couple of weeks.

It’s definitely been worth it so far. This is an ongoing goal.

History is what makes the present... 2 years ago

I have always been fascinated with history, and art. I have some sketches of paintings if you just click on the links. There are some museums in England I would love to go visit to find the paintings I have of Sir Joshua Reynolds, and Sir Edward Burne-Jones….
Though I think visiting all the land marks and Rich history in England and all of Europes castles etc… would be great

    Art Fair 3 years ago

I went to a fantastic art fair this past weekend with my aunt. It was outdoors at a beautiful place called Holy Hill. We were so impressed with what we saw, and we did a bit of shopping too. This isn’t technically a museum or gallery but I’m counting it anyway because the art there really was amazing.
