this: Faster Than the Speed of Night. Not a literal video – an actual video. And, as a disclaimer, I must add that I adore Bonnie Tyler’s voice, and this song is one I still really like…I do love me some Jim Steinman songs, and this one – even truncated (and sans “vocal wail”) – still rocks. Excellent cleaning/driving really fast kinda song. A sexy song.

I thought “Total Eclipse of the Heart” was bad, but at least there wasn’t a Speedo-clad guy trying to dance a pas de deux with an electric guitar.

I was too young and naive (okay, still rather naive) to say for certain, but I’m starting to believe almost everyone was on drugs during the 80s. It’s only logical explanation.

and, while it’s hard to pick a favorite, right now I’m going with Journey because it made me laugh the hardest.

because, as a child, I was also confused about the definition of “couple.” I knew, for instance, that Mom and Dad were a couple, and that couple meant “two” in that instance. However, my Dad would say “give me a couple two or three of them” (in retrospect, I’m sure he got this from my grandfather – I can hear him saying this), so I thought that “couple” in reference to things meant “two or three.”

One day, I was eating some candy (Skittles, M&Ms, something like that) and he asked me for a couple. I gave him three. Which lead to a long, drawn-out explanation about why I thought “couple” meant “three” in some cases but not others. I don’t think he really understood, but he sure found it funny.

As I found this funny. At least I’m not the only one hazy on the subject. (Though I’m glad my confusion was limited to candies.)
