Having a limited number of goals is half the reaason I joined this site. Some are really big and some are really small. Some can be done soon and some can be done later. I like having a variety of goals. This way, I have a variety of things that I can concentrate on. And if I don’t feel like concentrating on one thing, there’s always another I can think about.

Yes, approx 20 is more manageable 3 years ago

Now I’ll try to keep the list to no more than this size and concentrate on those on the list, especially near the top.

    Progressively pruning 3 years ago

Down to 25 now and a few should be accomplished soon. Next aim is to prune to fewer than 20.

Yes, still too many! 3 years ago

I think this list may be more useful once I’ve pruned it to about 20 of which half are long term goals that I’m not realing aiming to “finish” and the others are short term.

Still a fair bit of pruning to go…

43 things is too many! 3 years ago

So I’ve just officially given up on one and intend moving some others off my list if I don’t think they’re serving any purpose.

Today I bought FranklinCovey's PlanPlus for Windows XP 4 years ago

I hope to make it a central location for all my goals, projects, tasks, to do lists, and values. That doesn’t mean I won’t be using 43things. I enjoy the human interaction too much. In addition, the chance to write and expound on a goal is helpful in becoming more clear about it.

I’m going to consider this done, because I’ve used FranklinCoveys stuff for 10 years, and I know it’s effective.

    Just Today 4 years ago

I can only allow myself 30 minutes on the computer so that I can go to the bank on my way to work, which I am doing an hour earlier this morning. I need to do a brain-map for accomplishing 5 things in May. April just got crazy with extra activities and “the norm” didn’t get done.

    Confused 4 years ago

I have way too many things on my plate, or at least in my mind, I want to do and way too many things surrounding me that inspire me, feed me, and I literally have no place to work. I even have to clear off the top of my laptop to get to it!!! I am confused about what to put where and what to start or stop now.

Well, with 33 goals, I've probably blown this one. 4 years ago
    We’ll see. I could either:
    • alternate my attention between all the items, or
    • Limit my focus on just 6-8 things for now.
I’ll try each alternative, and find out which works best for me.

I want to make headway 4 years ago

I need to become more aware of those times when I’m “spinning too many plates”. My attention span is only so large, and if I try to do too much, I end up completing things shabbily or not at all. Thus, I resolve to only work on 5-8 of my 43 things at a time. When I complete one, I will be able to choose which one I will add next.
