Travel along the California coastline

Looking for suggestions on where to stay and what to see.

HWY 1 = SPECTACULAR

I still really want to travel along the coast with Sean. This is going to 43 Places.

I drove down the Pacific Coastal Highway on the way from Seattle to San Francisco and the drive was extraordinary. The roads twisted and contorted around the coastline with minimal protection against the (sometimes) 200 foot drop down into the ocean. Definitely something everyone should do once. I wish I could have gotten a picture…

My mom sprung this on me one day so unexpectedly. It was the most fun I had had in a while. Of course, a lot of the time, we didn’t know where we were going, and just followed whatever road was in front of us; but that’s the beauty of it all, no worries. Just do what you want to do. Go drive by that Pacific Ocean, and take in that air. And hell, if you stray away, you know what way to go: west.

This is one of the first things that I will be doing once I start my journey from Washington to Pennsylvania. Along with California, Oregon, and a good part of Washington, I will be driving down the coastal highway (101 I believe). I’ve never actually touched the Pacific Ocean, let alone watched the sunset into it, so I’m sure this will be an unforgettable experience.
