This one game shop that I occasionally frequent has Warhammer games regularly. They seem like the kind of place that would play Diplomacy, since I’ve ended up playing random games there for no reason whatsoever.
Like I go in and I’m all “Hey, you got any Magic cards?” and the guy at the counter’s all “Sure, what kind?” and I’m all “UNGLUED MAN! UNGLUED!” and then he gives me the cards, and then he may or may not agknowledge that I’m female, as well as the fact that, indeed, there are some female gamers as he sees right in front of his eyes, and then I pay for them.
And then I see some guys who are playing something incredibly random and I’m all “What the devil you guys playing?” and they answer, and I don’t care, and then I somehow get involved in playing it.
However, none of these times were Diplomacy. But I got the best recommendation from someone EVER about it. That apparently “It’s a great way to spend an afternoon with your friends, who, after the game is over, you will never be able to trust again.”
And it’s got fanzines. Fanzines make me giggle a bit inside.
