We spend every summer at our house 35 minutes away from Telluride Colorado. It’s been a tradition for about 5 years that on beautiful, warm, clear nights we drag our big heavy matresses down the half log stairs out onto the deck. We line them up outside and get about 3 or 4 heavy blankets, afgahns, and/or reindeer skins (authentic, from Finland), and bundle up in warm pjs and socks. A couple of times we’ve gotten sprinkled on, and I’m always the one who ends up right at the edge of the hangover, so half of my matress gets wet, and nobody will wake up to let me squish in, lol. We can see thousands upon thousands of stars, and on average about 4-10 shooting stars from the time we get in bed to when we fall asleep. In the morning, the sun rises early and it gets really hot with all the layers on your bed. We always see deer, turkeys, etc. in the morning, and at night you can see their eyes shining. But, one of the best things about sleeping outside, is all of that good old fresh air! It makes you feel all healthy and happy.
