marcourHIDI2 - Retire

How I’m Doing It -

  • Coordinate with all other decisions, including our plans for moving our home … starting to do this step much more concretely during 2012 July
  • Project a retirement date – as of 2012 July, we’re tentatively looking toward 2015 September
  • Arrange work based on anticipated retirement – if it sounds odd in a two-weeks-notice world for me to begin planning this during 2012 for an autumn 2015 retirement, remember that I gave over 4 months notice for changing employment way back in 1982, and that my responsibilities since then have only grown all the more, with many of my current cases already being in active progress for up to 5 years and some other work I’m doing already unlikely to be completed by 2015. Certainly any projects I begin anytime as late as 2014 should very explicitly be very short-term in nature, but already I should begin making the necessary adjustments to my work.

This entry will obviously be updated very much over the coming years as we work toward this. 10 months ago

marcourHIDI - Retire

How I’ll Do It – I will want to coordinate this goal with our goal to move for the last time. I’ll still proceed on this goal, since I would be wanting to retire in the next several years anyway, even if we were to decide to stay in our current house. 10 months ago

marcourSteering vs Floating

Since last September’s disruption, I’ve been floating toward some random future retirement.

More than ever now, I need to return to steering there. 12 months ago

*Cathy McDowell*Retired at Last

I think it first takes money or at least the knowing you have back up.
I quit working at 55 and am helping my husband to run his business.
If I’m not doing contracts, estimates, bills etc. I am running to various companies to get prices etc.

I also have a lot of me time too so without having to punch a time clock ::::::: Yes, I can say it is worth it. Plus, we go on more mini vacations this way too :) 20 months ago
