And it’s not even the profession I had planned on putting first. (I want to be more than one thing in my life; how about you?) I think what is limiting me so far is that I don’t really know how one gets to be a food writer. It sort of looks like being a celebrity: you either have it or you don’t. In this case “it” is a sophisticated palate. Nevertheless I know that’s not completely true; I think some of it can be learned. But how? I guess I need to spend some time researching that.
