Of course this means I have to get peoples’ addresses. But thank yous that are written out, well, at least when I recieve them, it means a little more I think. I’d like to start with cards. Hand written thank yous and congratulations and such.

just make a whole lotta lil friends...  — 2 weeks ago

consequently, as a part of leaving as a student teacher, my students write to me via snail mail. it works.

When you write something by hand it is so much more meaningful than something written in an email or online. Definately take the time to suprise someone and buy a card or make one. I also suggest using crayons and stickers to add extra love.

Living in Germany on base...  — 4 weeks ago

Just moved here to Germany with my husband, he is in the army. All my family back home doesnt seem to believe in the internet or something… So I really want to write them letters. Problem with this is that they don’t seem to like writing either, then when I can call they are like why dont we here from you.. Anyways, I think I’m doing my part in writing and keeping in touch… :D

Cool saved letters contest!!  — 4 weeks ago

Crane & Co. has launched its second annual “The Letters You Keep” contest. You can read more about that here: http://crane.com/CraneContent/CSTM_LettersYouKeep.aspx. The contest prize is $500 in Crane stationery!

A cool new thing this year is a “Letters You Keep” Flickr page, where you can upload an image of a letter you’ve kept over the years. I’m planning to sort through my tins and boxes and stashes of packratted letters this weekend!

old fashioned.  — 1 month ago

i always try to stay in contact via snail mail…. but i never keep up with it! I really wanta try to keep the communication going, most the time i just put writing a reply letter off until i forget about it.

Its not pretty although it is pretty expressive. I think the choice of stationary suits my style of chicken scratch. I could even enhance it a bit more with burnt edges and possibly age it in the damp part of the basement to get a couple of mold spots.
Why not. It took me this many years to perfect my writing style. I may as well add the effects.
I include a typed translation of key words when I send these.

    Letters  — 2 months ago

I used to do this a lot but the advent of the Internet has all but killed it off. So much “junk” everywhere. Will my letters be seen as just more junk? I should write to Cathy or my mom or get a penpal. I am abominable about thank you notes and I certainly never expect them.

Thank You Cards  — 3 months ago

My neighbors (the ones who felt the need to not only thank me for their gift from India but send a card as well) bought me a Christmas present of a handmade metal bookmarks, so I used my last pretty notecard to send them a thank-you note.

I need to send one to my grandma too, but I don’t know if I should do it on regular stationery, make the card, or use the UglyDoll stationery I splurged on a while back.

I also need more stamps. :(
