rubikkocka SCHOOL IS OUT
How I did it: Well, you can't really say that you have done this because there are always, and i mean always things to practice or to learn or invite or...last year, i got a book on calligraphy and i decided to try and learn it. i bought pen sets (on ebay they are not so horribly expensive) and dedicated a notebook only for this. Also, in the meanwhile, i've signed up for a japanese calligrapy course. That provided the basics, but learning further woul… Read how I did it…
gaiagranolaranger understands that "where you go, there you are."
How I did it: Artistic endeavor has always been part of my life. When I was about 13 or 14, my dad bought me a set of calligraphy nibs, a jar of ink, and a book about calligraphy. That was all it took to get me going! I remember spending hours and hours at my desk, learning the alphabets and playing with new ideas and designs. I probably added the calligraphy to every birthday card or poster I made from then on out! To this… Read how I did it…
Super Awesome feels pretty awesome.
How I did it: I had to learn for art class. It took me two weeks. I was given hand out of various lettering and had to copy them out with a calligraphy pen. It came pretty easily to me which was surprising because I suck at most things. It took me a few tries though before I got the hang of it. Read how I did it…
It’s hard because I am working full-time and the class I intended to take is during the day. I suppose I could wait till next semester, but the price is REALLY steep—over $2000. I didn’t know when I applied, although I really should have looked into it.
To be fair, it’s really a private business disguised as an art school. So I don’t know yet. Maybe I’ll take the online version.
I was at an old haunt the other day and noticed that a piece of calligraphy that I had done for the owner was still up on the ice box. WOW! I did that a long time ago! I can’t wait to do more calligraphy soon – I’ve been doing it since 6th grade – 10 years old give or take. I should get back into it.
roseyfg is at a lake for the week.
and it’d be pretty nifty to turn it around and have spectacular handwriting. People can’t read my handwriting, and calligraphy looks awesome… so I should learn.
I’m interested in learning typography in general. As a Muslim, calligraphy is a large part of religious art and the work can get quite complicated. But I’m also interested in learning Japanese calligraphy and Western text. I think it’s beautiful art and wished I could create it!
It would start next month. Especially since I don’t have a job. ._. I hope at the least, though, I can get a part time job so it will help defray the costs.
I’ve tried before, but never with my left hand and I haven’t got any of the recommended/required equipment so I’m going to buy a kit already made and look around online for some good ideas about what I can recycle around the house to use for my learning, such as materials to write on.
I’m not sure when I can start this, right now I’m preoccupied with Web Design at School, ASL and Esperanto and just exercising my left hand. I’m going to master print first, then cursive, then go on to Calligraphy but I would like to start learning even if just with my right hand…
Splity is Paul Maddock
But I gave up. I don’t feel I have enough space. I probably do.
I need a make a writing desk to get the right angle, but other than that I have some lovely paper, some raelly nice nibs & a acceptable pen thingy.
I need to get back into, I loved it so much.
sanachan198 working... sorta
Calligraphy has interested me for years, along with handwriting in general. I love old fashioned copperplate style penmanship, and would love to learn to write like that. And also I’d like to learn it well enough that I might be able to start a small business addressing and writing formal invitations for weddings and such.
