Education is everything to me. I want to learn more and know more than I could imagine. Getting a masters degree means more power in my field, which is one of the most important things to me.

Michael has to revise some goals
How I did it: My employeer paid for everything so that is what set me on the path. I had wanted an advanced degree. It was a question of a lot of extra work, understanding how I learn best and using that to maximize my learning abilities in class, and just applying myself as needed to get the good grades. I had a desire to learn the material which helped a lot too. Taking classes at night, every other week, a single class at a time, made it easie… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to class while working as a full-time teacher over the course of three years or so. I plodded along, did as I was expected (mostly) and now I get paid more in my job. Why? Not sure, exactly. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I kept telling myself this would help me in my career change...which it did! I took night classes 2-3 times a week for four years while working full time. I think the small chunks helped me out--2 classes per semester was more than plenty for me to handle while working. I took out a student loan, budgeted, and kept at it. Eventually, graduation day arrived. Read how I did it…

I’m looking at my diploma right now. The symbol and culmination of years of blood, sweat and tears.
I was in a lit program, and just wanted my degree so that I could get a ten grand raise as a schoolteacher. It paid off—literally. I enjoyed much of the coursework, and would love to teach some community college classes, but all in all, I’m not any better off after having completed my masters.
The big, ugly process of applications and waiting to hear back is over, and I’ve accepted an offer from a school and plunked down a deposit. Starting grad school full time in August!
eve amedeus looking for work... anyone hiring?
I finished the requirements for a Master of Arts in Creative Writing in January and was somehow talked into another year of school to earn a Master of Fine Arts (the terminal degree in my field). So, I have another year and should be finished in January 2010 if all goes as planned. I’ll be keeping this thing open until I earn the MFA because I don’t want to create another “to do” list item and… well, it IS still a Masters… isn’t it?
I had a dream in which I was talking to my friends, who asked me what I’d be doing after that. I said I wanted to earn a Ph.D. in psychology. I woke up unable to decide if that was a goal-setting dream or a nightmare.
I want to earn a Master’s Degree…I’m not sure in what yet…but, I will get one…soon…hopefully start Fall 2009

I survived my first semester, but what a ride! Started out with 3 classes, however I dropped one before midterms. Finished out the semester with a 3.0! I’ve learned my lesson. For the Spring, I’ll be taking 2 classes. Better to not streach myself too thin, learn the material, and get B’s than get impatient, take a heavy (for me) course load and chance a C. Getting a C = no credit for the course and scholarship probation :(
Yea me!
in over my head – didnt schedule enough time to fit everything in my life in. but i survived the first semester and earned an A and a B. 3.5 GPA. i’ll do better for sure but its a start that i can accept
...applications! If I actually spent all the time I’ve said I was working on applications, you know, working on applications, I’m sure I’d be done. But that’s a whole other stack of issues to tackle. ;) I’ve visited a few of the programs, and I’m more and more committed each time I visit or talk with people about it: I can’t wait to start a program in urban planning!
I earned my B.A. in 1992 and started working as a planner. Now I’m in community development and have taught at the University as an ad hoc instructor. I’d like to get a Master’s in planning, administration, community development, or relateed field to advance my career and to add the prospect of teaching to my options.
