After much manic searching on the net I found a bank who would let me open an account. Did the I.D checks. Waiting for welcome pack. Will be able to put my salary into the account and they pay my bills automatically and whats left they transfer onto a card which I can use to spend. At least I don’t have to worry about being in the middle of nowhere and not having access to funds when I start my job.

It was like I was annoying her by asking questions instead of just handing over my money. Well anyway, its done. The checking part at least. I’m going to look into a Credit Union for my savings though.

$ Credit unions are way better than banks, but either one will do! I remember not having an account anywhere and having to cash checks at the grocery store, get money orders for everything…But now we have direct deposit, a checking and a savings account. It makes life much more streamlined and clean $

If you have Washington Mutual I should tell you, about 4 years ago I banked with them and had my identity stolen…twice! They didn’t notify me at all AND they were very rude! They lost over $300 out of the first account (which is a lot when your 18 and on your own!) and over $800 from the second one (which was only about 3 months later). So just watch out, I did everything right as far as being responsible and they f’ed me and blamed me, so be careful with WaMu!!
