Loudest band on Earth.. 17 months ago

…and the ONLY gig ive been handed earplugs on the way in.

Saturday 28th June – They opened with a relatively tame take of “Only Shallow,” but quickly showed why earplugs were complimentary. Ending the set with their trademark 15-minute-plus tidal wave of white noise at the conclusion of “You Made Me Realize.” My friend, who was hungover, had to leave about 5 minutes in, as her head was about to implode, and wait for me by the bar. Until Saturday Pelican and Mono held the title for loudest bands ive seen. My Bloody Valentine blew them both out of the water.

    Set List:

    “Only Shallow”
    “When You Sleep”
    “You Never Should”
“(When You Wake) You’re Still In A Dream”
    “Lose My Breath”
    “I Only Said”
    “Come In Alone”
    “Thorn”
    “Nothing Much to Lose”
    “To Here Knows When”
    “Slow”
    “Blow A Wish”
    “Soon”
    “Feed Me With Your Kiss”
    “Sueisfine”
    “You Made Me Realize”

    Simply amazing!

MANCHESTER, APOLLO, SUNDAY 29TH JUNE 2008.

My bloody ears! Bejasus, the LOUDEST band I’ve ever ever seen of heard live! My head was buzzing for hours after it
The plus they did the longest outro I ever saw, the building was trembling.
I think I fell in love with Bilinda Butcher. She looked like a guitar weilding angel. Defo worth the headache!

I couldnt very well miss Kevin Shields coming out of hiding could I! ;)

I was lucky. I saw them twice. 3 years ago

Both times in 1992—including, it turns out, their last show ever, at the Palace in LA in July of that year. I consider myself an extremely lucky person for that reason. I’d love to see them again, but I doubt it will ever happen.
