Discipline 5 months ago

I totally lack any self discipline, and really haven’t been doing this goal, I rarely get any applications done because I hate doing them so much, then I avoid, avoid, avoid with more fun activities. Haven’t done anything really creative either. Ack.

Spring has sprung 7 months ago

and I think its calling me to get back to creativity, I do feel stuck in a very ‘comfortable’ rut and I’m not really moving out of my comfort zone or making things happen, as everything’s up in the air and scary…

Artist’s Way should maybe get me out of a rut and help me get some discipline, find some connections.

So far I’m not going to touch the book for a bit.
I’m going to start with morning pages, the daily walk and the weekly artist’s date.

I think I wrote before that the walk was a new addition- there should be at least 2-3 20 minute walks and one hour long one. But I read somewhere else that it should be a daily 20 minute walk and nothing about an hour long one. Also no pets or partners. :( New puppy would have made that fun-but I guess that wouldn’t be a contemplative walk- more a NO! DONT! AWWW…type walk.

Also apparently you should write about your experiences on these walks.

First step- morning pages tomorrow. I’m lacking privacy at the moment. But maybe I can try going outside.

I’m interested in the Hip Tranquil Chick ‘method’ as well. Would be good to get going with some yoga as well as these walks and I think it ties nicely in with Buddhism and then meditation. All which I need to work on.

Work ethic 7 months ago

Read this article in the Times about a young playwright whose 22 and written two plays that have both been very well received, one’s even being studied in schools and at her old uni. She claims a great work ethic was the incentive behind her success (or something similar.) There’s a similar article here from the Guardian.

Oh and she wrote her first one at 19.

So if I master the do something I don’t want to do bit, maybe I’ll develop some sort of ability to get something done.
