How to go to an art school by oohlakatie

"the most incredible time of my life, especially after putting in so much hard work to get it."

How I did it: worked super hard on my foundation. most people did the least amount of work possibly but i ended up doing at least two 12 hour days a week, 10 hour days other than that. i pulled a lot of all nighters, became terribly obsessive and possibly a little neurotic. i was constantly doubting myself right up until my final major project but then i let go and it all came together.

Lessons & tips: be passionate, especially at interview and in personal statements. don't compare yourself to others, set your own targets and do everything you can to meet them. always go further than you need to. instead of doing a drawing once or twice, do it ten times. or twenty in my case. note down everything about your life, however irrelevant it might seem. be daring and remember the only person that can hold you back is yourself so just let go.

    I've switched direction 15 months ago

    I have decided now that I would rather do something in the fashion or culinary genre. Art is great but way harder to get into and I really love both fashion and culinary so I am changing my direction a tad bit. However if I really wanted to be technical about it a lot of fashion schools have art classes as well so I guess that counts! =p

    i go to art college at the moment and i really love it. i was planning on going to uni after but now im not. i think you have done something when you’ve got as much as you want from it. not going all the way doesn’t mean you’ve failed or given up.
