THE FEDERAL STUDENT LOAN PROGRAM (SALLIE MAE) HAS FINANCIALLY RUINED ME AND FINANCIALLY RAPED ME. WHEN I GRADUATED FROM COLLEGE I OWED 34,000 AND AT THAT TIME I WAS THE SINGLE PARENT OF 4 CHILDREN SO I COULD NOT PAY MY LOANS. I ONLY MADE 24,000 A YEAR SO IT WAS SUGGESTED TO ME BY SALLIE MAE THAT I PUT MY LOANS IN DEFERMENT. WHAT A BIG MISTAKE. I NOW OWE 85,000. SALLIE MAE WANTS ME TO PAY $671 A MONTH. THERE IS NO WAY IN THE WORLD THAT I CAN PAY THAT TYPE OF MONEY AND BE ABLE TO LIVE ALSO. I HAVE RUN OUT OF DEFERMENTS AND FOREBERANCES. I THINK THAT IT IS SO WRONG FOR THESE STUDENT LOAN COMPANINES TO MAKE THEIR BIG FORTUNES OFF OF PEOPLE LIKE MYSELF FINANCIAL MISFORTUNES. I WAS TOLD BY THE TIME I PAY MY LOANS OFF I WILL HAVE PAID SALLIE MAE OVER 200,000. THIS IS GOD AWFUL JUST BECAUSE I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY MY LOANS AND I HAD TO PUT THEM IN DEFERMENTS AND FOREBERANCES SALLIE MAE IS GOING TO MAKE THIS KIND OF MONEY OFF OF ME AND PEOPLE JUST LIKE ME. YOU KNOW I WAS ALWAYS TOLD TO GO TO COLLEGE TO MAKE A BETTER LIFE FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN. GOING TO COLLEGE HAS BECOME ONE OF MY BIGGEST REGRETS. IF I HAD NOT GONE TO COLLEGE I WOULD NOT BE OWING SALLIE MAE $85,000. SO MUCH FOR THE AMERICAN DREAM. I HAVE ONE QUESTION AND ONLY ONE QUESTION WHERE IS OUR BAIL OUT?

Interesting how none of the candidates (aside from Hillary Clinton) have touched on this issue which is enslaving so many of us to the predatory student loan companies.
They want to take my assets. Go for it! I don’t have any! They want to garnish my wages. Go for it! I don’t have a job. Why? Because my college has taken my transcripts hostage!
So why did I got to college? To get in debt and have my future erased.
Does Obama care? Does McCain care? Does Nader care? Is anybody going to come up with a reasonable solution?
I am so reassured that I got a couple cheers on this. What a shitpath it is that to educate ourselves we have few options other than to accumulate huge debt. And then our government spends billions to fund a war for demo(oil)cracy. But has the cost of living (gas) gone down? No! Has the cost of tuition gone up disproportionately to the cost of living? Hell yes!
