get my drivers license renewed

took me all day…processing here sucks..

it’s a month expired :/

I’m a terrible test taker but I’ve had the license renewal on my calendar for months…plus it was always embarrassing when people would ask me if i had and i’d have to reply that it expired…Anyways i got it renewed today all i needed was (for a californian license) my birth certificate, $27, my old license, and a night of studying the book. I took the test twice and i passed the second time. I’m glad i now have it though! YAY!

So I got the form to take to the DMV to get my new license a couple weeks ago. Since I need to do it by next Saturday anyway, I decided to just get it over with today. I went down and signed my name and answered all the questions (yes I want it shown on my license that I’m an organ donor; yes I’m registered to vote; no I don’t want to change anything). They snapped my picture and offered me a chance to change it, but as I noted it doesn’t matter what the picture looks like because they all look bad.

After my new card printed and they punched the hole through the old card, the woman noticed the weight change between the two pictures. I hadn’t really noticed myself but looking at the picture from four years ago to the new one, you really can tell that I’ve lost a lot of weight. You can also tell my hair has gotten more grey too. The workers wanted to know how I’d lost the weight and I explained it to them. The one said that I’ve lost enough and shouldn’t try to lose anymore. Even when I said I’m still over 200, she said I looked good for my height and frame. In my mind I thought “she should see me naked and then she’d change her story.”

I got the notice in the mail a few weeks ago, and finally wrote out my check and dropped it in the mail today. Here in Pennsylvania we have to renew our license every four years. My current one expires the day after my birthday. The new one will be good until 2011.

Once they process my check, I’ll get a notice back to take to the photo place to get my new photo license. I’ll need to get a hair cut before that. It’ll be interesting to see the difference between the old license and the new one since I weigh a good seventy pounds less than the last time I had my driver’s license picture taken.

Had let me license expire (too busy with the move to even pay attention) and come to find out that now you have to have your birth certificate to renew if your license is expired. Well with 2 moves within the past year, I couldn’t find it.

Finally found it yesterday and spent my entire afternoon at DMV. Good news is I’m getting cuter license plates (a girl can shop at the DMV, who knew?!)

As a bonus, got my passport pictures taken since I was out and about …. ;o)

do this before you get a ticket!!!

and make sure to bring your SS card, your driver’s license, either 5 bucks or 24 bucks(depends on whether your OLD or YOUNG), and a TEA form from your school if your YOUNG. lol
