I’m totally into social sciences. I don’t know why, though.

change everything is getting her shizz together
I didn’t re-read an intro book like I planned to, but I picked up most everything we did talk about (constraints, institutions, etc.) I have social theory this fall which I think is going to give me a definite review plus a lot more knowledge, so I’m considering this one finished.

Alrighty it sounds like you are just starting out with the subject. That’s awesome! Just last week I got my degree and I’ll encourage you to do the same.
So if you want to be a probation officer you ougth to start reading criminology, deviance, and social inequality texts. You’ll have no trouble finding a good criminology texts, loads exist. Deviance theory is much more difficult because it is included in the classics like Suicide by Durkheim or in ethnographic accounts and rarely treated as an independent subdiscipline (well I mean). Social inequality is a little rough to get through because it seem tedious but pay attention to the development of inequality rather than how it currently exists. It will make life easier for you if you have to compare countries and regions. Not to mention there are some current books about social stratification/inequality that are phenomenal and provocative. These are normally misplaced in the political or economic sections of the library. Happy hunting.

But I’m down to my last renewal on my book, so I really need to get into gear on this! Plus, I am almost definitely starting classes this summer.

I plan on going back and getting my BA in SOC. so I can work my way up to being a probation officer…I have the intro book from the library to review before my class this summer. So this is my last entry for the night and I’m actually going to go read half a chapter.
