How to travel to Peru
How I did it: It was an student-exchange-programm offered in my school. We accomodated a Peruanian girl for a few weeks and later on in summer I got to visit her family in Peru. It wasn't easy to get there because there were some trouble with the airline but we finally did it within 13 hours. (easier with knowledge of Spanish. Iberia's English sucks.) I got some problems with my family but generally I can recommend staying with a family for some time to improve your language and getting to know life there.
Lessons & tips: It's really helpful to speak Spanish! Sometimes organisations say that it's not necessary but I would recommend it!
I couldn't deal with eating there so much, but it depends.. some hadn't had any problems at all. If you want to be safe stay with things you know.

I would LOVE to see Machu Piccu…when I was young I worked at the local health department. The director had been there and had taken some of the most awesome pictures. She had them blown up and framed and put on the walls throughout our office. Ever since then it’s been on the top of my list of places to see….
As of right now, I’m planning a trip to Peru with my mom for Spring 2008. Hopefully, she won’t change her mind before we book the trip!
What an experience, one I will never forget as long as I live. To see the absolute poverty in this third world country was absolutely heart wrenching, but at the same time, life changing. It really puts things in perspective and teaches you not to take the little things for granted. Keep in mind, that with poverty comes poor living conditions, greed, violence and crime. Refrain from bringing valuables along on your trip. Don’e expect luxurious hotel accomedations. Be prepared for a life changing experience. You’ll return home a new person. But most importantly- never forget.
I would like to go travelling to Peru. I am fasintated by it’s old civilizations that were once there and their beliefs. Need to save money!
