How to learn to swordfight

How I did it: I took fencing class in college and fell in love! It's really one of those things I didn't think I could do. You get totally hyped, the adrenaline flows as you try to impale someone with a pointy metal piercing tool...haha. Then later you see all the bruises and marks you've earned yourself from being swatted and stabbed. It feels awesome! Though now that I've graduated it's really difficult to find a random person on the street who's a swordfighter. It's a real pickle swordfighting without a partner :( |

How I did it: I just had to join the fencing club for 25 bucks. They provide all the gear and our coach is really nice. There are a ton of newbies so I don't feel like an idiot (well, most of the time) and I've even beaten a few people in practice! I have a long way to go to actually be good, but in the meantime it's just fun pretending to be a character from The Princess Bride. Read how I did it…

Just something I’ve always wanted to learn to do. I’d REALLY like to be able to do it with real swords, but I’d be afraid for my fingers. Maybe, if I ever do get a chance to take a class of some sort. (Fencing would work to actually, I kinda want to do that)

I live in England, we’re pretty much famous for conquering and getting conquered etc..and all at swordpoint.
Why is it I have not even a vague idea of where to learn to swordfight? God help us if the Romans invade again.

Anyone who knows me would never say, “gee I wonder if Iron Man has ever learned to clash the steel blades?” They would say, why that’s silly, of course he has.
Why wasn’t it on my completed list? I just saw it on some other list of stuff, and said “oh yeah. I’ve done that too. Of course I’ve done that.”
