I have two pets—a 20-year old cat who was my sister’s 8th grade Christmas present and an 8 year old pomeranian I bought for myself for a foolish sum when I was in my mid-twenties. In order to be a better parent to these two worthy beasts (who will be my last pets ever, mind you), I will do the following:

    1) Regular nail-trimming for the pomeranian.

    2) Being proactive with the cat’s litter box.

    3) Claiming my own space in the house so I’m not resentful that the pets are EVERYWHERE.

hes (were) adjusting... 2 years ago

i thought it was going to be much more stressful for the dog to adjust to the move… however he seeems to be doing alright. hes in his kennel less often- with people visiting for lunch and home when i am not… pls hes loving the wildlife.. he is still a city boy and just had a terrible runin w some horse flys- he was welts anout to tail!! it was sad but he was better after one nights rest… he loves all the windows and basking in the sun- he also cannot get enough of the cat- who wants nothing to do with him!! plus been working on training- he has been listening very well to me but now he has others telling him what to do…

Doobie my love..... 2 years ago

He is spoiled as far as attention and toys and grooming… However just like his momma he eats blah food. dont get me wrong i feed him eukanuba- but i want to switch to organic. i figure if im only go eat organic then i should do the same for my baby… so gotta look around at the pet store and talk to the vet and slowly switch foods… maybe he’ll lose a few of the extra lbs hes put on…

who's to say 2 years ago

maybe i am a better pet parent or maybe she has learned how to be a better pet. anyway, the craziness with her has definitely died down. now she only gets wacky during isolated moments, like when someone comes over or i get the leash, otherwise, she is a perfect pup. sigh.

    i <3 my dog. heh.

I must admit 3 years ago

I am doing so much better with this. I have taken my dog for a walk every morning for the last two weeks. She has calmed down so much more. I am leaving her in the house during the day while I am at work and she is behaving wonderfully. I let her sleep in my bedroom now (but only on the floor because when she is in the bed she is all up in my kool-aid as GL would say, licking my face and such). I bought her a bunch of toys and she LOVES that. So, I think this is coming along swimmingly.

I have a great dog 3 years ago

But she has some behavior problems. She really loves me and I love her, but she can be a little crazy. I know she will respond with a little training and me spending more time with her. So, I am going to try to start training her and walking her once a day. I know she is bored out of her mind.

Now, the cat, he thinks I am already a great parent, because he gets to sit on me whenever he wants, he sleeps in the bed with me and gets to eat all day long.
