How I did it: The last time I visited NYC with my sister and parents, we walked from Grand Central to Central Park. They have horse-drawn carriages that you can take for a ride around the park. We took the carriage ride, which was fantastic. Our driver was from Dublin, which was fantastic because Mom was getting ready to go to Ireland for an artist's workshop. Taking the carriage ride really separates you from the chaos of NYC, and lets you people watc… Read how I did it…
Jessica Steelers FTW!
Today is my town’s 19th Annual Horse Parade. see here for pictures and here for Youtube video please :).
And, for the first time in 20 years, I went on a horse drawn carriage! It was so much fun!
... I suppose it really was a horse drawn restaurant. This was a gift from my family as a special birthday present. I love clydesdales so much, that they knew I would just adore this. I certainly did!!!!!
annamaria08 is exploring possibilities
entertaining by the driver’s discourse on the horse’s consumption of guinness… (en route to the blarney castle place in eire)
JulieJordanScott is continually setting odd goals that need translation for many people
with my beloved friends, Mel and Tom, in Philadelphia.
They lived there – Mel was attending Temple University Dental School, and I was visiting them after a Sales Meeting in the days I worked for Prentice-Hall publishing and we had twice a year sales meetings, usually on the east coast.
Mel, Tom and I would have the BEST times…. and on one trip, we took a horse-drawn carriage around down-town Philadelphia.
I loved every moment, just like I love my dear friends.
Tom died at age 40 of cancer. They have two daughters, beautiful girls. It has been nearly four years and Mel still doesn’t date.
When you share a love like they shared… it seems strange to imagine her with anyone else.
OH! A bonus is… I introduced them.
:-)
Anyway – horse drawn carraige rides.
Everyone should experience one, at least once.
to see the city….have done this in Alexandria, VA, as well as Philadelphia, PA
I rode in a Central Park carriage years ago with a hopelessly romantic boyfriend. Very special!
I’ve also taken the horse taxi in Luxor, Egypt. Be sure to negotiate the price beforehand with the driver, else he will make a scene once you get there. I suspect he would have made a scene anyway.
Very fun, and can be very romantic with the right person. But definitely fun no matter what.
