I’m currently living away from the UK, despite being British. I’d love to get a job there so I have a proper excuse to get back there!
I spent nearly three years working in the UK and it was a good experience. I loved being so close to Europe and I learnt a lot living in another country away from my friends and family.
I’ve worked here for twelve years now (first three as a student, though TBH, shelving books in the uni library wasn’t really “work” for me!). It’s definitely worth doing, although I know that when I go home to Ireland I’ll experience a few culture shocks because things are a bit different there. The job opps are pretty good, although if you want to work in London you’d better make sure you get a decent enough salary to pay your rent/mortgage! Same goes for most of the south of England – I’m in Bristol, and I rent because I could never afford a mortgage on my own with my salary! The people are pretty friendly too, and the variety of accents is fab!
I loved eveything about living in London, Thats not to say that Baltimore is not great but the UK has great job opps. the underground rocks, and you just feel at home in every pub and every shop you go into. Also every little old lady is your gran. I miss it everyday Zedrea
