not want anything

I wonder what Buddha would have to say about all of the unfulfilled ego-wishes floating around this site. At the heart of Buddhism and much of the other alternative philosophy that Im aware of is the notion of suffering. And suffering stems from desire. (I want to eat but have no food, I want you to stop hitting me but you wont, I want to walk around in women’s clothes but am scared of the consequences) So if one can eliminate all desire, then there is no room left for suffering and hence one attains enlightenment. Simple. No wait, hold on- how can I then want to not want anything. Lemme change my entry: I want to not want to not want anything. No, erm…I dont want to not want anything. ? Help.

funny, just tossing in whims, this is the first one to find other folks in common. a bit scary, no?

i’ve done this… or rather, it’s happened to me without my consent. there was a point in my life at which i wanted nothing and cared for nothing. life lost all its color, its meaning, its purpose. after all, if you have nothing to pursue, you have nothing to live for. this feeling caused me to go into the most destructive state of depression i have ever encountered. i do not recommend this at ALL.
