play my guitar more

Was at work today talking to a senior associate and saw guitar tabs on his desk. Tells me how he got back into playing, how much he enjoys it, how huge his collection of instruments is, and I rediscover how much I love and miss playing music. Not sure how I can incorporate playing my guitar into my day when I’m a single parent of a toddler with a 2-hour commute, but I have to nurture self as much as I nurture others if I want to be all-around happy.

Played it a little but ..okay this sounds strange,i love the my guitar yeah,but it’s just too loud!!
Turn it down i hear you say! I can’t hahahah the sound is just so overwhelming like good overwhelming,i can’t beleive it’s me playing hahahahahha i need to get over that and play more,if not it’ll be some expensive type of decoration.
Plus it doesn’t help that my house is anti-noise hahaha.

My bass playing isn’t bad. It’s not what I’d call GOOD, but it’s not bad. Between the bass & the bits of percussion that I’ve been able to add, I feel like I’ve made a minor contribution to the instrumentals we’ve recorded.

It’s not really THAT difficult & hubby HATES it because (for him) it’s boring. It’s more than enough to keep me challenged, though.

He also bought me a tambourine & some shakers.

We’re laying down a lot of music tracks for some of the other writers in town & he seems intent on making me actually PLAY on some of them. If all I have to do to keep him happy is play a little cowbell, then life is pretty good.

so I’m sitting in. I’ve never played bass before so this should be a trip.

Practise man, practise! By the end of the year I want to be able to play the guitar better than Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani, Jimi Hendrix and Tommy Emmanuel put together.

I want to be able to play a song somebody recognizes. And to be lean enough in my fingers to start the band coach thing, if i want to.

I want to start with playing one of the songs from the nick cave book my love gave to me.

I’m going to start with teaching myself Monkey’s Gone to Heaven and then Wave of Mutilation. I found the guitar tabs online.

Thankfully, hubby will be there to back me up so I won’t have to carry the whole show… I can handle rhythm, but I’m glad he’s got lead…

Tonight I tuned my guitar. At last! I played a few chords but I feel really out of touch. I think I’d like to get some private lessons. I did some lessons last year but the tutor was terrible (really disorganised and way too many students) and I just didn’t really get excited by playing ‘what shall we do with the drunken sailor’. I will investigate this further.
