Untitled 1 month ago

i started school and sitting around the dorms and doing nothing but hw has caused me to gain 10-15lbs that i had recently lost. i plan on joining the YMCA near my school but things keep coming up that cause me not to be able to afford the joining fee. so my mom being a physical trainer taught me some workouts that i can do in the dorm. hopefully ill become fit again and maybe look better then i did starting school =] keepin my fingers crossed.

Walking 9 months ago

I have started walking a minimum of 30 minutes every week day. I also got a pedometer to track how many steps I walk a day. I am trying to increase my daily steps to total 10,000. Its amazing how easy it is.

At this point, I am just trying to do something active every day. I went walking (pretty briskly) for 2.5 mi today with my neighbour, and I renewed my YMCA membership so that I can go after work since it is just a few blocks away.

I quit smoking 6 months ago and I’m working my butt off working full time and trying to take 4 grad classes so that I can graduate this May. So while working my butt off, I am adding pounds.

Plus I’m just happier when I take an hour or two for myself in the afternoon, especially now that it is getting cooler.

This is a stress management issue for me…quality of life. When ever I think about the things in my life that make me unhappy (and how I can change them/live with them) it usually comes back to exercise. It is so hard to get motivated! I have exercised fairly regularly in the past (in binges, I must admit) so I know that eventually I will love it… it is just the getting started that I find so difficult.

Become physically fit 15 months ago

I’ve been struggling with this goal off and on for most of my life. I want to stick with it and finally overcome this lifelong stigma of being out of shape. I want to be comfortable in my skin and look good. I know I can do this. My measurable goals are:

- 30-32” waist
- flat gut
- weigh 155-170 lbs.
- do 10 unassisted pull ups
- bench press my weight (or more)
- visible muscle definition

Ways to get there:
- record food intake and exercise daily (www.fitday.com)
- consume 1500-1700 calories daily
- 3 balanced meals and 3 healthy snacks at regular intervals daily
- weigh and measure progress once a week
- cardio exercise at least 20 minutes 3 x per week
- full circuit weight training at least 3 x per week
- obtain inexpensive exercise equipment and set up a home gym
- have one day off per week to avoid burnout
- make healthier choices at the grocery store and at restaurants
- eat out/get delivery less often

it’s not like I’m fat, and I am no where near it.
but unfortunatley, that isn’t because I excercise or anything. I have a fast metabolism, and I am now trying to become fit, so the weight won’t catch up to me when I am older. does anyone have any ideas for nice, easy excercises I can do every day?
