I don't know the routes in this town! 2 years ago

When I was in grad school, I took the bus to and from campus all the time, so it isn’t as if I don’t know how to get on a bus or something. However, I never had to pay to take the bus because our tuition included a transportation fee that let me ride the bus for free if I showed my student ID card.

Now I live in a different city, so knowledge of the bus system in the old town doesn’t really help me here.

I want to do the following:
    • Use the bus to go to some of my usual places on weekends without driving. Weekends would be a good start, since I wouldn’t have to worry about being late, although I would have to pay more attention to the scheduling if the buses are running less often.
    • Learn how to transfer from one route to another without paying extra. I never paid attention in college since I wasn’t paying anything in the first place.
    • Figure out the routes and schedules I would need to get to and from work. Decide if it would be feasible for me to take the bus.
    • Price bus passes. At what point would buying one be cost-effective?

It just seems really stupid to get in my car and drive across town when I’m not hauling anything large and my schedule is flexible.

Buses are not quick when they stop all the time, but the express buses get there faster than cars, and yes, it’s interesting to ride with all the people

I ride the bus all over "town" 3 years ago

when I visit Seattle—it’s lots of fun for a farm girl, and a great way to meet people!!!

Not everyone can drive 3 years ago

Not everyone has the luxury of owning a car and be able to drive. So thumbs up to the public transportation… Buses are interesting… Great place to be inspired, study people, read trashy graffiti… It’s fun…

til the busses stop running. Still it’s always good to know how travel by public transportation---you never know when you’ll need it.

The Wheels on the Bus go Round and Round.... 4 years ago

I have no idea what is going on when I get on a bus. It’s sensory overload and I just blank out. I’ve only rode the bus twice and it was with friends who knew what they were doing. I always seem to end up twitchy and then shut down. Ah well. I have a feeling it will make sense when I become more sane later on and actually grow up from my 7/8-year old mentality. SO!!!! This must go lower on my priorities for now.
