i really wana learn ma language.
How to learn to speak Samoan
How I did it: Sa ou se faifaiau mamona sefulu ma le lua tausaga ua tea.
Lessons & tips: I was a mormon missionary twelve years ago, I studied the language for 2 months at the Provo MTC. and was a missionary for 6 months in melbourne with the samoan community there. I am no longer mormon, for 1o years now, and there are not many samoans living in tasmania, the island where i now live.
If you have samoan family, study hard, and you will eventually learn the language. It is definitely possible to learn if you yse your brain and study hard, thats all.
Resources: Get a language tape. But even better, find yourself a FOB Sa', and talk faasamoa every chance you get. They will learn better faapalagi from you, you will get more faasamoa from them. everyone wins, you will get the sound of the language in your head that way. Oh, and SPEAK. Tautala! dont try to memorize, it doesent work, tautala faatasi ma tagata taime uma, taimi isi e mafai ona oe iai.
Fai fai lemu. Fa.

I have recently started taking a Samoan class on wednesday nights. I am excited that Im improving every week!
I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO SPEAK SAMOAN SOOOOOO BAD BECAUSE I JUST WANT TO EXPERIENCE NEW THIKNGS AND LEARN BECAUSE I AM SAMOAN AND I HATE BEING ONE AND I CAN’T EVEN SPEAK MY OWN LANGUAGE.IT’S SO HARD BUT I BELIEVE I CA ACHIEVE THIS GOAL OF MINE IF I TRY AND GOVE EFFORT.
I am full samoan, born and raised in n.america. I currently live in an area with a good amount of not only samoans, but also tongans(language is very similar). I have friends that are both samoan and tongan, when i’m with my samoan friends, they speak samoan. when i’m with my tongan friends, they speak tongan. i’ve learned both of these languages by listening and conversing with them! because the languages are similar, it made it easier for me to remember. i do suggest hanging out with someone straight from the islands.
another way i’ve learned samoan is by listening to samoan songs! i can sing almost every line, every word..it helps with memorization and pronounciation. then, i’ll try to find out the meaning of the song or the translation..then find common lyrics in other songs.
another way i learned to pronounce words is by reading something in samoan. i read the book of mormon in samoan, and had an english version handy to “translate” lol..you can choose any literature you find.
ia manuia le aso! fa soifua
My names maximus. I’m full samoan. I can understand the majority of the language but I cannot speak it. Don’t ask. I would like to be able to speak samoan to my parents one day.
