I currently live in Michigan and was laid off my job in early February and since then have been unemployed.

Michigan is a tough state to find a job in right now and is currently at a 14.1% unemployment rate.

I am trying to sell my house and move to a better economy! I am thinking the west coast…somewhere like Washington. I was concerned with Washington because they have overcast skies a lot but I hear Tacoma and Seattle have some good jobs!

This is going to be tough for me because I will be doing it alone with my two cats and I am terrified of being in a place where I dont know anyone! I wish I could find someone to move with me but I doubt that would happen lol!

I am researching right now and if anyone has any suggestions or know of anyone moving to those areas or anywhere in the west coast please let me know :)

I want to move out of state (From Michigan to ATL or Alabama) 4 weeks ago

My name is Crystal and Im 25 years old. I’m also a single mother of two children. I have resided in Detroit, MI since I was born. As everyone already heard the Big Three are having financial problems along with the economy already struggling. Right, now I am attending community college trying obtain my 2nd associates, and my current major is in Criminal Justice…..hopingo one day I will become a homocide detective. I feel as though I can’t get ahead here in Michigan. There aren’t any jobs out here and I feel stuck. My question is:

What are the necessary steps that I should take in moving out of state?

I haven’t been out of town ever….and I’m scared of being alone without my love ones and friends. I have researched other states like Texas and Nebraska along with Georgia and Alabama. I just want to make sure these places, I have researched have better opportunities than what I am leaving behind. I don’t know where to start and how to plan moving out of town. If anyone have any suggestions for me, I would really appreciate it so much!

My name is Kelly. I’m a native californian and i wish i wasn’t. I suppose California, especially the beach city of San Diego, where I’m from, is a great place to live. For the most part you have blue, sunny skies, rare chill days, it’s just so void of that “community” feeling. California is a state that is cultivated with an attitude of individualism. I’m seeking a more collective community to live in. I know small towns can be a pain in the butt, every body knows everybody and everyone’s business, but that’s kind of a nice thing you know. I guess, I’m just looking for a more natural and down-to-earth environment to settle into and raise my family. I thought of Washington, Maine, Alaska, a few other midwestern areas. Hopefully one day. I have no idea what it takes to move out of state, but i want to do it some day, some way.

Leaving Illinois... 4 months ago

It is a dream of mine to live somewhere out west. This place is like a prison at times. I just don’t think I am meant for Midwestern winters. I don’t mind the cold or rain, but 4-5 months of freezing winds and snow is just killing me it seems. I love the rain, the sun is okay and I’m thankful for it, but the rain just makes me feel a happiness that I don’t feel on any other kind of day. I need more of it. We need to go. Get away from here.

I want to move to Denver from New Orleans but need help with some questions. 9 months ago

I’m a single girl in my early 30’s and will be alone. I’m getting out of New Orleans. I’ve been here my whole life and it’s time for a change. I don’t know where to start. Where do I live? Do I find a job first? My goal is to leave by April. That will give me 6 months to have everything together. Can you lead me in the right direction? Should I stay in a hotel before getting a place? Should I visit for a week before I decide on what area to live in? I’m scared shitless and don’t know the steps to take. Can you help?

I had always lived in a small town in North Carolina. I had travelled to Florida, Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland- and was blessed by getting to go to New York, New York for 3 days as a high school graduation gift. I worked my butt off studying to get the grades for that. I loved New York, and I came back to rural NC with a bit of a different view. I knew I couldn’t spend the rest of my life not living anywhere else but there. I went to college for a while and took a break. I was focused on my relationship, and when that ended (along with my expectation of marrying the boy) I felt I should get away. I looked online for different employment opportunities- but being that I hadn’t finished college, and most of my employment had been in the fast food industry, I wasn’t very marketable to out-of-state companies. A friend told me about AmeriCorps, I applied, was interviewed and accepted. I bought a plane ticket and moved into a hostel in Denver while I sorted out the finer points like where I would live or how I would afford food. I had $40 and I made it last three weeks until I got my first check. Its a struggle but definately worth it.

I’ve moved from Tennessee to Oklahoma. From Oklahoma to South Dakota. I’ve done many great things in all three of those states…..but I always think about those mountains and the great things my home had to offer. I miss it….and will plan to move back…with three more additions. My wife, and two children. I can’t wait to make them Tennesseans :D

move to north carolina! 13 months ago

I’ve always loved NC since I was a kid – even though I didn’t go there except a couple times a year or so to see my grandmother and my mother’s family. there is just something about that state and the rural areas that just feels so much like my second home that I am destined to go back.
