im collapsing all my music-related goals into one umbrella goal of music. i know what i need to do and theyre taking up too much room on my list.

- accordian. this is a just a difficult instrument. my great-uncle is really good, and showed me some, but i need get better at piano before i feel like i can really tackle this amazing instrument.
- trombone. it’s my brother’s old one, just a pea-shooter, but i just need to sit down with a book and learn the positions.
- clarinet. i can get a fairly good tone out of it, but again i just need to sit down and learn the fingerings.
- oboe. same thing.
- banjo. now, i have been playing this more and more, but honestly i have no idea what im actually playing, im just playing, i dont know the chords or anything. i just love the sound. i want to write a oboe/banjo duet. beautiful.
- violin. i cannot seem to operate this bow thing. but one day i really want to take actual lessons on this, because i think the violin is the most versatile instrument.
- harmonica. yea, i play it, but i aint really playin it.
- tenor recorder. this thing is the shiznizzle. amazing tone, beautiful instrument. i can kinda play it, but i want to get a lot better at it.
- kit/drums. its been sitting in my corner for over a year now, and i play it, sometimes more often, sometimes wont play for a month. im not terrible, but i need to sit down and try new things on it, either by getting some sheet music or listening to albums or something.
- piano. ive got piles of keyboards, and an upright, but i still dont really know how to play. i never learned bass clef, which, i know, isnt difficult, but i have just never taken it seriously enough. i think if i did my whole style of songwriting would change. which would be good. as it is though, im much better at grinding things out of the keyboards or the moog.
- mandolin. my brother was really good at this until he decided it was gay. i still think its neat little instrument, and id like to learn a lot more on it.
in truth, i only consider myself to be even mildly proficient at guitar and bass. oh, and french horn, if i could actually get hold of one. and trumpet i guess. everything else i just piddle with long enough until something coolsounding comes out.
Hohner acoustic 4-string bass guitar
Check. 17 years and counting…
Yamaha button accordion
I’ve mastered the intro to ‘More Than Rain’ by Tom Waits, but that’s about it. Everything else I play sounds like a dirge.
Hohner chromatic harmonica
This was my late father’s, and man could he play! I need to master my other two ‘standard’ harmonicas first I think before I tackle this bad boy.
Hohner A harp and C harp
Getting there, slowly but surely. I need to work on my tongue blocking, as all I can really play right now are chords.
Irish whistle
I’ll need to hit up my buddy, Craig, for some pointers on this.
Wooden frog
Not much to it, really. Good fun!
