prepare wonderful bento lunches

This one for my son, inspired by lunchables. We made mini pizza crusts today to fit inside his bento box. Then I filled one compartment with shredded cheese, another with little pepperonis, added a condiment packet of parmesan cheese, and took a zip lock baggie and filled it with pizza sauce, tying it with a rubber band so when he is ready to use it he can cut the tip off the bag and write on his pizza crusts. I tried to be healthy by suggesting some lettuce and tomato toppings, or fruit, but he insisted on butterscotch pudding, claiming lunchables have something similar…so I caved. It was his choice, and hopefully he will enjoy his lunch tomorrow.

This should make for an easy Monday morning for all of us!

Inspired by www.laptoplunches.com, and the desire to reduce waste for a healthier planet, I purchased two laptop lunch bento kits with a carrier last summer. When I have used these, they make lunch so much more enjoyable, and I eat everything…whereas if I brown bag it, I find myself eating very little of my lunch.

Presentation is everything, and the containers force you to focus on more variety of food rather than just sticking in a sandwich.

In the lunches I have been successful with, I have included a pretty little napkin, and also an after dinner mint with every box.

The reason I am opening this goal, is that I haven’t used it as much as I should. If I used it daily, I would be healthier, as would my son, who also has a bento.
