shinaraz is working on NaNo
I started this earlier this year, but fell off the bandwagon. Once I clean my clutter up more, I can get to my child-size guitar (lol, I have small fingers) and start practicing again.
purplesue is confused and happy and hopeful
How I did it: I got a acoustic guitar as a present and started taking lessons. It was very basic. It was a series of 10 weeks over a course of 3 summers. I was always the youngest in the class. Everyone else was middle aged or retired. I did it half heartily and never practiced at home. by the end I could play a handful of songs. I gave up because I wanted to go onto electric guitar and I wasn't allowed to. Maybe one day I'll buy an electric one. Read how I did it…

Well, I am doing it. I definately do not get enough practice time in, and each week I have trauma during class. LOL I am really probably the worst in the class. But it doesnt matter to me, I am still learning and that is all I want. I want to read music, I want to be able to play some songs. I have stage fright when I have to play the weeks song in front of class, and even though I can do the song pretty well at home i freeze up in class. Oh well, I am still going to keep working on it.
AthenianPostbox works hard for her money.
...I’ve got three months before college, so… Why not? It’s not like I’m doing anything else. :D Plus, I’ve got an acoustic guitar!
I have signed up for classes at the local college. Going to buy a new guitar this week and get it all set up. I am a little nervous but more excited. Hopefully I stick it out.

kiiru is writing her life list, short and long term goals
Been trying to learn it off and on for years, couldn’t take the pain on the fingers. I must push on and learn my first song.
I would like to learn to play the guitar to accompany me when I sing.
I was in the hospital recently and was talking to someone when we thought of an idea for them to get instruments donated so the kids that have to stay can play, I talked to the head person of Child Life and she said that she seen a guitar in the closet that’s just been sitting there. Out on a whim since it wasn’t being played I asked if I could have it. Of course I expected her answer to be no, but after a few days of thinking and talking to her co-workers they decided I would be the proud owner of an acoustic guitar. I’ve only had it for about a week but I know general chords and I’m starting to learn a song or two.
Kat VanH is back and ready for action!
...and popped in a dvd instructional video. It started nice and slow, and it looks like something I can actually do. Eventually. I was so thrilled just to tune the thing.
Going to have a one hour “lesson” twice a week, and practice 20-30 minutes a day.
This week: chromatic scales on every string, E chord arpeggios, A minor arpeggios, and cut my nails to the quick.
Some tennis ball squeezing would probably be helpful too.
Next week, a simple song! (I peeked ahead)
