I also bought fabric to make three dresses <3
I think my biggest issues in sewing/drafting patterns are -
1) Princess lined/seamed dresses
2) Drafting sleeves (they always turn out so oddly-shaped…)
3) Getting the curve of skirt hems right so they hang nicely
So, those things I need`to work on.

Well, I’ve enrolled on a beginners course ‘cause I’m mainly self taught and need to make sure I’ve got the basics down before I can improve further.

Hi everyone…Im new to sewing and I need all the help I can get…I have jumped in and just done it with very little help and with my own patterns. I read everything I can find on the internet and it has been a great resource for me. I have made a quilt for myself..and i made a grocery bag holder…I have made several pillows for my grandkids and I have done quite a bit of embroidery…any advice is more than welcome.

I watch shows like Project Runway, and I love how the contestants come up with a vision, AND THEN MAKE IT HAPPEN!!. I come up with a vision, then I change it because I don’t know how to make the fabric do this, or how to calculate that, or what technique could create that look, and by the time I’m finished adjusting the vision to my actual sewing skills, it’s nothing like I had in mind.
It’s time to take a class, several in fact. I want to be able to create what I see in my head, the styles, the colors, the class. Make the dresses, corset, skirts and coats, wear them once in public, and then sell them on eBay.
I want to be able to create wearable art.

My daughter wanted me to save her favorite blue jeans since they are now too tight for her. I went to Sewing.org and found a way to create a skirt out of her jeans. The problem is that her jeans have embroidery of all of the NBA basketball teams. Yes, she is a basketball player and taught all of the boys in the neighborhood how to play (the girl’s got SKILLS). Anyway, this makes cutting and positioning a NIGHTMARE! I’ll try to create a skirt which is not too tight or too short, yet really cute. This project must wait until tomorrow. I’m tired!

I learned to do a straight stitch, a rolled hem and sewing elastic into a waistband. I also learned to add braiding and beads with a serger. Now I can join the serger club to create some projects. Sewing.org has been helpful with hemming garments.
