"Absolutely fantastic"

How I did it: I wanted to go to Paris as an au pair, and searched the internet for sites that might help with this. There are a bunch of sites where you can sign up and find a family, and this is also how I found my family. It does not have to take 4 months, but they were looking for a new au pair to come when their current one went home.

Lessons & tips: make sure you don't just choose the first family there is, if you are also going as an au pair, take your time to talk to them and find out who they are.

    My best friend has been living there for three years. Visiting her and seeing Paris from the resident’s perspective was awesome. She is coming back to the States the first of the year so I’m planning one last trip to roam the streets of Paris with her in November. Can’t wait!!

    Someday I hope to teach abroad, perhaps a semester or two in Paris!!

    France is, indeed, a beautiful country. I am currently living in the Languadoc-Roussillon (far South), and I really, really like it! The winter over here is so warm, no snow at all, it’s amazing! :)
    I’ve been here for three months now, and I will be moving back to the snow-covered Canada in late January. With my mother, of course :P
    It really was/is a nice experience, especially because I improved my French skills and got to meet new people. The radio station “Skyrock” is definitely one of the big highlights, too…great for those people who like to laugh until they cry ;)
    And I totally love the Languedoc-accent! It’s just so different! :D

    I can use my french and live in this beautiful European country. It would be a positive out of America experience. I will become a more cultured person and see more. I think it’d be fun!
