Maine  — 1 week ago

Been there five times in the last five years. Fell in love with the place. The views are amazing and being able to be in the outdoors enjoying the views while hike without dying of heat- a major plus. I will move there- not a if but a when.

Love Maine  — 9 months ago

Worth doing!

I moved to Maine 18 months ago from Georgia. I love it. The community that we live in is great, and I work at the high school. We have never felt more at home in our lives. This is so worth doing. Maine is a great place.

My boyfriend really has his heart set on moving to Portland after I graduate, but I still love Brooklyn and I’m wondering if I’m going to be able to find a job that will allow me to live (ie, eat, sleep, pay bills). Plus I have a group of really close friends here, all of whom are opposed. BUT I’ve always loved Portland, and think it would be a wonderful place to start fresh with my boyfriend, so we can kind of build our life together, rather than him feeling like he’s just part of mine.

MAINE IS WONDERFUL....  — 1 year ago

I HAVE ONLY BEEN IN MAINE TWICE, VISITING FOR TWO DAYS. IT IS ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL. I LOVE THE FACT THAT DURING THE SUMMER IT IS NOT DREADFULLY HOT OR HUMID LIKE IN JERSEY. THE PEOPLE ARE SO FRIENDLY AND NICE. WOW AND THE IDEA OF HAVING FRESH LOBSTER IS WONDERFUL. THE LANSCAPE IS BEAUTIFUL. FOR SOME REASON I KNOW I BELONG IN MAINE. :o)

I live in Florida. Born here and lived here my entire life. Maine sounds like just the place for me. I am so tired of being hot and living with an insane society. The Colder the better.

Worth doing!

Grew up in South Dakota, travelled (mostly east coast and South America) while in the Navy—and all the while, dreamed of escaping to Maine for reasons largely unbeknown to me.

Now, I’m here-my own home, a great big yard and a beautiful view of a river and Canada. It’s quiet, peaceful and beautiful. Jobs are scarce and low paying, but I didn’t come here to get rich. I’m here to get away - and loving it. Now, it’s just a matter of making sure I can afford to keep the house warm all winter. Gas prices where they are (and wood prices up as a result, too!) that may prove challenging. Worst case scenario, we’ll burn the chairs.

Note: Attached photo was taken standing in my back yard. The river is the border between the US and Canada.

Worth doing!

Born in Maine…Grew up in Ohio. Moved back to Maine to go to college. MAINE is GREAT if you have a family. If you are single, MAINE BLOWS. It’s the oldest state in the the country. By old, I mean the age of citizens. The Job Market is seriously SCARCE. I love Maine. Born here. I have family here. I’m moving because I can’t find a job to accomodate the housing costs. I do have a college degree.
