Worth doing!

Been climbing for about a year and a half now. Not done any outdoor climbing yet, but I climb indoors about 3 times a week now. It is great exercise: builds strength, stamina and makes you think. A lot of people think its all about upper body strength but its not, it works everything: legs, back, stomach, shoulders, etc. I love it.

[The pic is from last year when I first started]

it’s a nice sport, you can have fun with your friends,it needs a little practice and sometimes excite the adrenaline.I’ve done freeclimbing which is really cool and a lot of adrenaline, but i don’t advise you:)

to Upper Limits in Bloomington yesterday, and i did it. I climbed half way up a 5.6 and i felt very accomplished. i definitely felt safer having Cameron belay. i was kinda worried that he couldnt hold my weight, but he did. the automatic belay thing is scary. I had a ton of fun and cant wait to go again. Im going to climb it to the top next time, and if not i fail!

so today well tonight we had Steadfast at Kirby Park, in Spring Valley. Well at the park, we have a rock wall that is like 8 foot tall. So i am scared of heights, but i climbed the wall. i did well in my own opinion. i do not consider it accomplishing this goal because i didnt climb very high or anything, but i say its good and well a personal accomplishment of just doing it. The only thing i didnt like, wasnt even the fact of heights, but the boys kept shaking the wall and it scared me. I will say, i want to do it again, and well i plan on doing more. I did love it, and even if i am afraid of heights, im going to accomplish this goal and well be the best i can be. thanks guys for helping me and not even realizing it! i love you guys!

Climbing was fun. We did top-roping and I did choose the easiest routes but I made it and I’m proud. Rock is very different from indoor, but I really liked it.
I’m thinking of taking a lead climbing course soon, and after exams my friends and I will go down to the climbing center a few times a week.

Going outdoor climbing tomorrow. I’m the only person going who can’t lead climb, it’s going to be awful. Mild-severe climbs!
But it will be an experience.
I’m so nervous.

I have tried rock climbing … and I love it – as expected! Passed my temp. cert. class and have gone 5 times since intro class. Will take permanent cert. class next week. Invested in a harness and shoes – man are shoes expensive! Couldn’t find any used ones that were right size and fit. Climb on!

...and i haven’t been near a wall or a gym for about a year. Hmm. Will get back to it eventually. i have an ex-colleague who’s mad for outdoor climbing and has a lot of experience. Should speak to him. Another thing on hold for a while, but i must remember to do this stuff eventually.
