Went for eye exam but eyes were too irritated so I have to come back again on monday.
How I did it: It was really frustrating trying to get the contacts in, so I just had the doctor put them in... I still have to learn how to put them in and take them out myself. I had trouble prying my eyes open wide enough to stick the contacts in, but I'm surprised I didn't have any qualms about touching my eyes, since I'm quite squeamish. It was actually a lot less scarier than I thought it would be. I'm just worried about taking them out now. >.… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Doing it was easy. I had plenty of motivation. I've always had the hardest time picking out glasses. They're expensive, get lost a lot, and are never the right shape for my face. Read how I did it…

Made the appointment to get my eyes checked so I could get new ones!
I hate wearing glasses. I want contacts really badly. I’m 17 and i feel like my glasses are making it harder for me to be confident about my self.
Delphi really doesn't need another status message to set.
I used to be very hesitant at the idea of getting contacts. There just seems like there’s a lot that can go wrong. As I see more and more people that wear them, though, they seem less intimidating, and my glasses are really getting on my nerves besides. Now I’m definitely ready to try contacts! Just a matter of spending the money

I’ve been wanting to get contacts for about two years now (Since tenth grade), but my mom always insisted on glasses. Even though I’ve never worn the glasses (I’m nerdy enough…they just make me look like 10X nerdier), she still bought them. My vision is 30/20 or 40/20 and I think I would need to actually see the board in college to do well. So, I’m going to get contacts before then, hopefully.

i finally got my contacts!! it was hard to put it in, but i’m so proud of myself for doing it.
CarolynMary I don't give a damn, I'm happy as a clam.
So I have to call my eye doctor and make an appointment. I read someone else had said to find a doctor you really like. There is this woman doctor that is so nice and great. She wasn’t horrible like some eye doctors I’ve been too.
Ugh. Bad experiences.
Anyway, I think I’ll make an appointment soon. I’m thinking a week but I have to make sure I can afford it.
I’m really ready to get contacts. I’ve been told I’m responsible enough and that I’m extremely meticulous about such things. I take care of my glasses and I’ve never broken a pair or anything.
And I did read something about it’s time to get contacts when you feel responsible. I didn’t feel responsible when I was in middle school or anything. Plus my eyes have stopped getting worse and have stabilized in this prescription.
I think it’s time to get them soon. I want to when I start college as dorky as that sounds. I don’t want to be four-eyes or brace face.
This site is helping a lot with all these things that I have been really meaning to do!

I don’t really like my glasses. I feel like I hide behind them too much.
Also, lately, they somehow got bent and sit crooked on my face, and i keep leaning my face to the side and it’s extremely irritating.
Getting contacts is part of my “grow up!!” campaign. If I get contacts, I will probably starting wearing a little makeup, and maybe look less like a 12 year old.
It’s not a vanity thing. I just don’t feel like anyone can take me seriously if I look like I belong in middle school. I look older without glasses and with makeup, and maybe if I look more adult, I can work on becoming more adult.
Sam is walking on sunshine, oh oh.
I used to think that I would look terrible without my glasses, but I just took some webcam photos of myself without wearing my glasses… and I look totally fine.
It’s just weird because I’ve had glasses since preschool, no lie.
So pretty much my entire life.
But, I’m going to college soon, and this is something that I want, so I am going to get to work on it.
My eyes are getting worse, actually. I broke my lenses at a concert about a year ago and the replacements were slightly different and my eyes have suffered for it.
I am terrified of spending money and that’s the primary cause for my inaction.

Des asks,
“Can anyone summarize the different options for types of contact lenses, and the factors I should consider when choosing the type? Thanks. :)”
