I’ve made tracks all across the USA, but I was always in a hurry going somewhere. I want to take a leisurely trip where there’s nowhere I have to be, and enough funding to be able to really wander and explore to my heart’s content.

I could see myself getting into RVing… perhaps a preliminary goal would be to rent an RV for a weeklong adventure somewhere in the region.

This might be a doable goal after I finish grad school but before I officially start my career. It would also probably be a great time to do it, before I have too many work obligations tying me down…

I haven’t decided if doing it alone or with a partner is better.

I've always wanted to drive across the USA! 14 months ago

There’s just something about the “All American Road Trip” that I really want to experience. I want to drive a hundred and thirty miles an hour on some Montana Hwy. I want to stop for pizza in Chicago. I want to spit off the Empire State Building in New York City. The list goes on and on. There’s also something to the effect of “I want to decide where I want to live.” Does that make sense? I want to explore the country to get an idea about places other than CA.

no destination, no timeline… maybe see the world’s largest ball of string or something random…

Driving cross country 18 months ago

I have traveled well throughout life. As a kid, our family vacationed frequently and we have driven cross country several times and even in to Canada and Mexico. As a young audult, I have hitch-hiked the west coast from Tacoma to L.A. I have lived in many different places and I still continue to travel well. However, most of my long distance traveling is by air.

I want to just drive across the country and be able to absorb the culture that we have right here in our own country.

I am particularly fond of the North West.

I've almost done it twice 2 years ago

For whatever reason, I want to do the great American road trip. Starting at my home in Maryland, and ending up a few days later looking out over a diferent ocean.

drove from S. Florida to Los Angeles ;) 3 years ago

We drove from Naples, FL all the way to L.A. on the I-10… making sure to stop at the Grand Canyon first… It was fun, Florida started raining and we couldnt see a thing! It was beautiful and green, though. Alabama still had the confederate flag standing at their outpost, which was a little interesting… There was an underwater tunnel through Mobile, AL. Louisiana was the epitomy of swamp and south… ;)Texas was a boring drive, and we almost hit deer! We had to stop to eat a steak in the beef state, too. The Southern states were flat, but amazingly pretty nonetheless… lots of swampland and marsh, We also stopped in New Orleans and drove over the Mississippi River ;) New Mexico and Arizona were hot and dry, but beautiful. The Grand Canyon drive was also very tree-ish and mountainous… Most towns on the way were boonie towns, (well, compared to L.A.)And of course, We ate Cuban food in Miami, Creole in New Orleans, Steak in Texas, and Mexican in New Mexico. Arizona is where the West-coast culture kind of comes into play a little more (like fully- stocked convenience stores, food, etc. ) If you are a fan of different variety drinks (diet iced tea, flavored snapple, sobe) dont expect that to be everywhere you go- esp. in the little podunk towns :0 all in all it was a great experience and worth the while, we took 5 rolls of film and played the roadkill game, seeing 45 roadkill in all…. we also bought a joke book and read jokes along the way. It is def. worth doing!!!
